How to Play Cards Against Humanity
If you’re ready to dive in, here’s how to play Cards Against Humanity:
- Objective: The goal of Cards Against Humanity is simple: play the white card answer that you think is the funniest or most fitting according to the black card prompt. The Card Czar (a designated player who judges the round) then chooses the winning card.
- Setup:
- Each player draws ten white cards. You can only look at your own hand of cards.
- Leave the rest of the white “answer” cards and black “question” cards separated into face-down stacks.
- You need at least four players to play Cards Against Humanity, but it’s most fun with 6–8 players.
- Gameplay:
- Starting the Game: Each player draws ten white cards to kick things off. The player who most recently pooped (or Hugh Jackman, if he’s playing) becomes the Card Czar and draws a black card.
- Answering Prompts: The Card Czar reads the question or fill-in-the-blank phrase on the black card aloud. Everyone else answers the question or fills in the blank by passing one white card, face down, to the Card Czar.
- Selecting the Funniest Answer: The Card Czar shuffles all the answers and reads each combination out loud to the group. After a round of laughter, the Card Czar picks the funniest play, and whoever submits it gets one point.
- Rotating Card Czars: After each round, a new player becomes the Card Czar, and everyone draws back up to ten white cards.

Now that you’ve got the basics down, let’s spice things up with some house rules:
Rando Cardrissian: Throw in a wildcard from an imaginary player for some extra unpredictability. It’s like having a surprise guest at your game night!
Wheaton’s Law: Let the Card Czar pick between two black cards for more personalized fun.
Smooth Operator: Sneak a card into conversation for bonus points – just don’t get caught! It’s all about being sly and quick on your feet.
